In this film I found that step 5 came before step 4Īs Donkey tries to convince Shrek not to go on his quest, Shrek is stubborn and continues on. He is now determined to find Lord Farquad. This aggravates Shrek and therefore he begins his journey to find Lord Fraud.ĭonkey, who now plays a loyal friend to Shrek, tries to persuade Shrek not to go on the ‘quest’ to find Lord Fraud but Shrek doesn’t listen to him. He finds out that Lord Fraud has forced all the creatures to descend onto Shrek’s swamp. He questions the creatures about who sent them there. This annoys Shrek that people are on his land. The fairytale creatures of Far Far Away descend onto Shrek’s swamp. He accompanies Shrek on his way back to his swamp and joins him that night… Outside. He wanders across Shrek in the woods when he is escaping from the guards that want to capture him.
We are introduced to ‘Donkey’, who is played by Eddie Murphy. Not many people admire Shrek for who he is, but this is something that Shrek has gotten use to in his everyday life. He plays the character of a creature who wants to be on his own, someone who is content with his own company. We get this from the sign that says “Beware of Ogre”, that lies at the base of his swamp. We are introduced to Shrek who is an ogre living in a swamp, he is unromantic, dirty and to most people, he is scary. I am basing my 12 steps of a hero’s journey on the film Shrek.
